KENNEDY – Lendon Adolph Dyer, age 76, of Kennedy, Ala., died January 2, 2018, at Hospice of West Alabama. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday, January 5, 2018, at Double Branch Independent Baptist Church with Rev. John Williams, Rev. Ralph Smith and Bo Dyer officiating. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will be Thursday, January 4, 2018, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. The body will lie in state one hour prior to service at the church.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Ralph Dyer and Billy Mack Dyer.
Survivors include brothers, Ray Dyer (Nancy) of Tuscaloosa, Ala., Glendon Dyer of Mobile, Ala., Douglas Dyer (Martha) of Tuscaloosa, Ala. and Joe Dyer of Gordo, Ala.; sisters, Doris Nell Smith (Preston) of Mobile, Ala., Gay McGough of Tuscaloosa, Ala., Faye Busick (Bill) of Orleans, Ind. and Sandy Smith (Donald) of Virginia Beach, Va.; sisters-in-law, Juanita Dyer of Tuscaloosa, Ala. and Joyce Dyer of Gordo, Ala.; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Lendon was born February 14, 1941 in Pickens County, Alabama to the late Choyce C. Dyer and Beatrice Parker Dyer. He was a retired employee of Bryce Hospital, a farmer and a well-known resident of the Zion community.
Pallbearers will be Bo Dyer, Joseph Dyer, Mark Dyer, Rhett Dyer, Ray Dyer, Jr., Cliff Dyer and Charles Marlowe.
Honorary pallbearers are members of the Zion community, Roger Parker and Woody Baggett.
