William Leon Burns, age 81, of Greensboro, AL passed away November 11, 2020 at Northport Medical Center. Graveside services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, November 14, 2020 at Oakwood Cemetery in Greensboro, Alabama with Bro. Dee McGuire officiating and Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing.
He is preceded in death by his father, George W. Burns; his mother, Elizabeth Fant Burns; his sister Ruthie Burns Coley and his brother, Herman Wayne Burns.
He is survived by his sister Ann Burns Brown (Jerry D. Brown); his brother-in-law, Cecil Coley; his sister-in-law, Miriam Black Burns, as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
Leon was born June 27, 1939 in McShan, Alabama. He was a life-long resident of Greensboro, Alabama and a faithful member of Greensboro Baptist Church. He loved God, his family and his community. Leon earned his fifty year pin for perfect attendance in Sunday School and loved sharing the gospel. He considered everyone a friend, and was happiest when he could pray with them. Leon's favorite bible verse was John 3:16 and he shared this message on the wooden crosses that he made for others. His crosses can be found in homes around the world.
