Leonard Cockrell, age 78, of Aliceville, AL passed away September 18, 2023 at DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa.  Funeral services will be 11:00 am Friday, September 22, 2023 at Dogwood Chapel with Bro. Rusty Walker officiating.  A private family burial will be in Union Chapel Cemetery in Carrollton with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing.  Visitation will be from 6 - 8 pm Thursday, September 21, 2023 at Dogwood Chapel, 200 5th Street NE in Aliceville.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Maurice Cockrell and sister, Marilyn Cockrell.
Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Mary D. Cockrell; sisters, Jane Cockrell and Elaine Moseley; brother, Jerry Cockrell (Jeanne); sister-in-law, Gloria Cockrell; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins and his Davis Family.
Leonard was born May 4, 1945 in Aliceville, Alabama to the late Alex Clinton Cockrell and Gladys Butler Cockrell.  He was a member and deacon of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and served in the Alabama National Guard.   Leonard was part owner and operator of the Dari Dream and a retired employee of Lewis Brothers Lumber Company. He enjoyed woodworking and gardening and loved spending time with all his family.
Pallbearers will be Mitch Cockrell, Kip Cockrell, Clint Cockrell, Matthew Steele, Drake Shields, Steve Davis, Gary Steele, Britt Shields and Warren Eatman.
