Lewis Clifton
Elmore, Jr.
December 11, 1951 – March 14, 2022
Lewis Clifton Elmore, Jr., 70, joyfully entered Heaven on March 14, 2022, after a hard-fought battle with cancer. Lewis was born to the late Clifton and Doris Floyd Elmore of Gordo on December 11, 1951. A lifelong resident of Gordo, he owned Lewis Elmore Cabinets, a successful custom cabinetry business for over 40 years.
When Lewis wasn't working, he enjoyed playing guitar, gardening, golfing, and most of all having coffee and enjoying fellowship with his coffee circle of friends. He was a man of great faith and attended Elmore-Center United Methodist Church in Gordo. Well known and well-loved in his community, Lewis had a kind, gentle personality, a wonderful sense of humor, and a loving heart which made him easy to love and impossible to forget.
Lewis was blessed with a small but loving family whom he cherished. In 1971, he married his high school sweetheart, Marilyn Elmore. The couple recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2021. Lewis loved and provided for his wife and his adoring daughter, Laurel Elmore Campbell. The true light of his life was his grandson, Hankins Scott Campbell. Hank and "Booey" spent hours riding the golf cart and making memories together. Truly, they were best buddies.
Lewis is survived by his wife Marilyn; daughter, Laurel, his forever "My Girl" (husband, Kevin); grandson, Hankins; brother, Charles Elmore (Robin); sister, Teresa Wilson; sister-in-law, Bonnie Elmore and many loving nieces and nephews who will sorely miss the love and influence of their "Uncle Lewis."
He is preceded in death by his parents, Clifton and Doris Floyd Elmore; brother, Joseph; nephew, Dakota Crews and special niece, Libby Hankins.
Immediate family only will remember Lewis at a private graveside service officiated by dear friend, Reverend Nancy Cole. The family asks that you respect their privacy as they grieve the loss of this great man.
Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Ranju Chandrashekariah, Karen Patterson, RN, Dr. Julia Boothe and Brandy Junkin, CRNP, Dr. James Evans and Cheryl Pearson, RN, Dr. Scott Fulgham, staff of 6 North, staff of Hospice of West Alabama, staff of Amedisys Home Health Care of Reform, Elmore-Center community, special lifelong friend James Tilley and his coffee circle at Jet Pep in Gordo.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to The Live Like Libby-Love Like Libby Foundation, 1486 County Road 21, Gordo, AL 35466 or Hospice of west Alabama 3851 Loop Rd. Tuscaloosa, AL. 35404
