Linda Rochelle Hammond Dickson passed away on September 17, 2025 at 86 years of age surrounded by family at her home of more than 55 years in Roseville, Minnesota.
She is survived by her son, Scott Dickson; daughter, Mariel Dickson Milito (Dave); granddaughter, Emma Milito; sister, Ginger Boatwright-Kuhn and brother, John Hammond, Jr.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John Austin "Hap" Hammond and Hilton Vice Hammond and brother, Jerry Hammond.
Linda earned a Bachelor's Degree in physics from the University of Washington at a time when there were only a few programs in the country that would admit women. She went on to earn a Master's Degree from the University of Minnesota. After raising her children, she worked for Control Data and the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis as an auditor of their electronic data processes. Linda was filled with an insatiable curiosity and desire to learn about anything and everything. Throughout her adult life she continued taking classes in subjects as varied as meteorology, pastry baking, garment design, and the ground school portion of flight training. She took her last course in March 2025 before she became too sick to continue classes. She was and remained a voracious reader her entire life and was a book collector as well.
Linda will be buried in Palmetto, Alabama not far from the place she was born. The service will be held December 6, 2025 at Unity Grove Church in Palmetto, Alabama. Visitation will be at 10:00 AM and the service will be at 11:00 AM. There will not be a graveside service.
