GORDO | Lois June McDaniel, age 83, of Gordo, died August 12, 2014, at Hospice of West Alabama. Services will be 3 p.m. Thursday, August 14, 2014, at Skelton Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Charles Peart officiating. Burial will follow at Arbor Springs Cemetery with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will be one hour prior and immediately following the service at the funeral home.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lemuel Howard McDaniel; grandson, Nathan McDaniel; her parents; and sisters, Bette Good and Thelma Layman.
Survivors include her sons, Chip McDaniel (Susie) and Ernie McDaniel (Rene), both of Gordo, Ala.; sisters, Frances Grodi (Don) and Ruth Warner (Fred); brother, Charles Peart (Gloria); six grandchildren, Sara Riley (Tim), April Johnson (Daniel), Lena Lovelady (Brandon), Michael Kennedy (Jeni), Dustin McDaniel and Adam Bass (Samantha); seven great-grandchildren, Annabelle Lovelady, Madalyn Kennedy, Katilynn Smith, Dylan Farley, Jacob Bass, Jase Bass and Austin Johnson; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Mrs. McDaniel was born July 28, 1931 in Toledo, Ohio to the late Charles Peart and Isabelle Jarvis Peart. She was a member of Kennie Hill Church of God, a homemaker and a retired LPN. Lois was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt and she will be dearly missed.
Pallbearers will be Adam Bass, Dustin McDaniel, Brandon Lovelady, Glenn McDaniel, Randy Good and Corbin Phillips.
Honorary pallbearers are Michael Kennedy, Daniel Johnson, Justin Phillips, employees of Hospice of West Alabama and DCH 7th floor nursing staff.
