GORDO | Lorene Elmore Byars, age 94, of Gordo, Ala., died August 30, 2015, at Hospice of West Alabama. Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 1, 2015, at Elmore Center United Methodist Church with Dr. Joey Karr officiating. Burial will follow in Center Springs Cemetery with the Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will be one hour prior and immediately following the service at the church.She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Byars; 2 sons, Jimmy Byars and Dewin Byars; her parents; brother, Morris Elmore; sisters, Avalou Beard and Bernice Terrell; and son-in-law, Randy Bailey.Survivors include her daughter, Sharon Bailey of Gordo, Ala.; son, Dennis Byars of Gordo, Ala.; 4 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren.Mrs. Byars was born October 6, 1920 in Pickens County, Ala. to the late Willie Elmore and Mary Parker Elmore. She was a member of Elmore Center United Methodist Church, a retired employee of XL Manufacturing and a lifelong resident of Pickens County.
