Obituary

Louis J. Reece, 88, passed away July 11, 2026, at his home surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on September 23, 1937, in Pickens County, Alabama, to the late Ben Reece and Sarah Adell Reece. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Saturday, July 18, 2026 at Skelton Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Keith Crowley and Bro. Trey Reece officiating. Burial will be in Marvin Chapel Cemetery with Skelton Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be one hour prior and immediately following the service at the funeral home.

Louis was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He was married to the love of his life, Alice G. Cook Reece for 68 years, and together they built a home centered on faith, family, and hard work.

For 32 years, Louis worked as a water well driller, providing an essential service to countless families and communities before retiring. He was known for his strong work ethic, resilient strength, and willingness to lend a helping hand. His greatest joy, however, was spending time with his family, who will forever cherish his love, wisdom, and example.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Alice G. Cook Reece; his children, Keith Reece (Audrey), Debora Brown (David), and Alisa Crowley (Keith); his brother, Billy Joe Reece (Sharlotte); and his sister, Sarah A. Beck.

He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren: Pamela Summerville (Frank), Benjamin Brown (Andi), Trey Reece (Sarah), Stacey Jones (Josh), Jesse Reece (Emelia), and Ainsley Sentell (Joseph); and his treasured great-grandchildren: Elizabeth, James, Katherine, Joanna, Alex, Rebecca, Olivia, Sadie Mae, Saylor, Lydia, Judah, Hadley, and Daniel.

Louis was preceded in death by his parents, Ben Reece and Sarah Adell Reece; his brother, Robert Earl Reece; sister in law, Sarah Reece; brother in law, Glenn Beck; and his beloved grandson, Jonathan Brown.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jesse Reece, Josh Jones, Benjamin Brown, Joseph Sentell, Jeffery Dean, and Lance Skelton.

Honorary pallbearers will be Frank Summerville, Bobby Brock, Leonard Hudson, Mitchell Anderson, Gary Anderson, and Ronald Acker.

Louis will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his honest labor, and the legacy of love and integrity he leaves behind. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
