Obituary

Mable Bowling Petty, formerly of Aliceville, passed away in her sleep on September 27, 2013 in Pensacola, FL.A memorial service celebrating Mable's life will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, September 29, 2013 at First Presbyterian Church, Aliceville, Al. With Rev. Thomas Kay Jr. Officiating. Burial in Friendship Cemetery in Columbus Ms.Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing
Visitation will be 1 hour prior and immediately following the service.

Preceded in Death by: her husband, George Petty; a son, Arnold Petty; and a sister, Beatrice White.

Survivors include: Son- Raymond Petty of Kissimmee, FL.Daughter- Elizabeth and husband John Willard of Gulf Breeze, FL.Grandchildren- Sydney Willard of Gulf Breeze, Fl.Niece- Sandra Brown, of Utah

Mable was born in Milton, TN on June 20, 1922 to the late Cumma McElroy and Lucius Phfrastus Bowling. Mable attended Middle Tennessee State University. After graduation, she began her career as the youngest teacher in the history of the Memphis school system.

While in Tennessee, she met and married George Petty for 51 happy years. They later moved to Columbus, MS and then to Aliceville, AL. They began Petty Hardware Co. in Aliceville AL. Mable also taught PE at Carrolton High School. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church if Aliceville, Al. and Marco Island Presbyterian Church. After retirement, she and George traveled extensively and purchased a 2nd home on Marco Island, FL(Goodland).

Mable moved to Bay Breeze Assisted Living in Gulf Breeze, FL. in December 2012. She loved everyone in the facility and they made her last year very enjoyable.
