Mandy Karen Wilkerson, age 46, of Gordo, AL passed away November 23, 2024 at her residence.  Funeral services will be 11:00 am Wednesday, November 27, 2024 at Five Mile Primitive Baptist Church, 1295 County Road 34, Akron, AL 35441  with Dr. Robert Neil Honea officiating.  Burial will be in the church cemetery with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing.  Visitation will be one hour prior and immediately following the service at the church.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents Lamar and Ola Mae Williams and paternal grandparents, J. T. And Dean Wilkerson.
Survivors include her parents, Tony and Rose Alayne Wilkerson of Gordo; sister, Amy Honea and husband, Neil of Elrod; brother, Tyler Wilkerson and wife, Stephanie of Trussville; nieces and nephews, Anna Rose, McNeil and Autumn, Abby and Brady, Andrew, Nate, Ava Grace, Alayna, Maverick and Ellie Rae and aunt, Susan Williams.
Mandy, whose name means "worthy of love," lived her life surrounded by close friends, her beloved caretakers, and her family. Her parents, Tony and Rose Alayne, made the decision to take care of Mandy at home despite the many unexpected health challenges she experienced. As Tony and Rose faced the difficult decision of what type of care would be best for Mandy, she strolled through the kitchen singing, "This little light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine." Her light shone for 46 years to anyone who was blessed enough to know her. Rose played music and Scripture recordings aloud in the house from the time Mandy was born, and the majority of her communication was through song. Mandy was full of spunk and personality. She loved Mary Poppins, reciting Scripture, and singing "To God be the Glory" on repeat; but most of all she loved her Mama, who gave up her life to care for her, and her Daddy, who fed her ice cream whenever she asked for it. She also dearly loved her sister, who knew all her favorite songs; her brother, who always made her laugh; and her caretakers, Jeraldine and Amanda, who loved her devotedly. She passed hours upon hours with her aunt Susie, who has Down Syndrome and also lives with Tony and Rose. Through Mandy, the Lord taught her parents and family that He is faithful and nigh unto those who call upon His Name. Mandy was a testimony of the Lord's presence in the lives of all His children, and a living embodiment of Ephesians 5:19 "...speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord." When the Lord called Mandy's spirit home early in the morning of November 23, "To God be the Glory" was on repeat by the bedside at her request. Mandy is singing "to God be the glory" for eternity with a voice that is no longer limited by any of the physical challenges she faced on earth.
Pallbearers will be Tyler Wilkerson, Maverick Wilkerson, McNeil Honea, Andrew Honea, Nate Honea and Brady Johnson.
