GORDO – Marcella Joy Hollingsworth, age 76, of Gordo, Ala., died July 8, 2017, at her residence. Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 11, 2017, at Skelton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dr. John A. Nixon officiating. Burial will follow in Greenhill Memorial Gardens with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will be immediately following the service at the funeral home.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Robert Banks, Jr. and Homer Banks; and sisters, Dorothy Hamner and Doris White.
Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Douglas Hugh Hollingsworth of Gordo, Ala.; son, Doug Hollingsworth and his wife, Martha, of Coker, Ala.; and grandchildren, Erin Hollingsworth and Paige Hollingsworth.
Marcella was born May 13, 1941 in Echola, Ala. to the late Robert L. Banks, Sr. and Effie Waters Banks. She was a homemaker, a member of Northport Baptist Church and a well-known resident of the Gordo community.
Honorary pallbearers are members of Northport Baptist Church and members of her Sunday School class.
