ELROD – Martha Earline Thrasher Hardy, age 91, of Elrod, Ala., died July 20, 2018, at her daughter's residence. Services will be 3 p.m. Wednesday, July 25, 2018, at Tabernacle Free Will Baptist Church with Bro. Tim Tindle officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, James William Hardy; her parents; and grandmother, Penilla Venz.
Survivors include her daughter, Joyce Hardy Miller (Danny) and Janice Hardy Skelton (Rodger); sisters, Ruby Kendrick and Myrlene Wicker; half-sisters, Jimmie Lou Gray (Johnny), Jewell Deerman, Shirley Boyd (Skip) , Dorothy Gregg and Peggy Williams Donald; half-brothers, Morris Thrasher (Alice) and Kenneth Thrasher (Dorothy); two grandchildren, Christopher Miller and Jordan Miller (Anna); and great-grandchild and Emmaclaire Grace Miller.
Mrs. Hardy was born April 26, 1927 in Vance, Alabama to the late Edward Thrasher and Elizabeth Venz Thrasher. She was raised in the Brownville community and also stayed in Birmingham while growing up with her grandmother, aunts and uncles. Earline was homemaker and a member of Corinth Baptist Church.
Pallbearers will be Danny Miller, Rodger Skelton, Christopher Miller, Jordan Miller, Joe Hardy and Elvis Pate.
Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Bostic and staff, Brendan and Kacie Wood, Elvis and Sue Pate, Tony and Wendy Barrett, Joe Mills, Daniel and Casey Shirley, Lee and Tiffany Rouline, Rodney Sullivan, members of Northport City Council, members of Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Department Posse and employees of Hospice of West Alabama in Home Care.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society, Mid-South Division 1100 Irelane Way, Ste. 201, Birmingham, AL 35205.
