Obituary

Marty Dale Fife, age 69, of Gordo, AL passed away peacefully on July 8, 2026 at the VA Medical Center in Birmingham. Visitation will be from 6 - 8 pm Monday. July 13, 2026 at Skelton Funeral Home in Reform.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Foster Fife and Molly Fife and his sister, Melba Bonner.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his beloved wife of 47 years, Phyllis Charlene Akin Fife of Gordo; his children, Michelle Kelley (Bryan) of Gordo, Danielle Thomas (Brad) of Millport and Dale Fife (Shannon) of Gordo. His is also survived by his sisters, Patricia Criswell (Jerry) of Gordo, June Jones (T. J.) of Gordo and Linda Dunn (Randall) of Huntsville; his special brother-in-law, Mark Bonner (Lisa) of Reform; his cherished grandchildren, Bella Grace, Faden, Charlie, Zoey, Tia, KayKay, Anna, Christian, Ana-Jo, Ali-Ray and Katie; nine great-grandchildren along with numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members and friends.

Born September 2, 1956 at Reform Hospital, Marty was the son of the late Foster Faden Fife and Molly Laneil Moncrief Fife. He proudly served his country in the United States Army and was a dedicated veteran. Following his military service, he enjoyed a long career as a truck driver before retiring.

Marty was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. He loved his family deeply and took great pride in the life they built together. Marty was a member of Mt. Olivet “Beaver Dam” Presbyterian Church and was known for his strength, his laughter and unwavering love for his family. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Pallbearers will be Jon Williams, Carl Abramo, Hunter Junkin, Josh Bonner, Brad Thomas, Bryan Kelley and Cruz Franks.

Honorary Pallbearers are Mark Bonner, Jerry Criswell, T. J. Jones, Randall Dunn, Brad Elmore, Randy Dunn and Jerry Ray Criswell.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the Safe Harbor Unit at the Birmingham VA Medical Center for their compassionate care and to the Gordo Fire Department for their kindness and support during a difficult time.

Marty’s legacy of love, service and dedication to his family will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.
