Obituary

GORDO – Mary Spruill Clemmons, age 73, of Gordo, Ala., died December 22, 2017, at Baptist Memorial Hospital –GTR. Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 27, 2017, at Gordo First United Methodist Church with Rev. Dan Kilgore and Rev. Reagin Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Tabernacle United Methodist Church Cemetery with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Amy Clemmons; parents; brother, Billy Spruill and brother-in-law, Fred Thom.
Survivors include her husband of 53 years, William C. "Bill" Clemmons; daughters, Marcia Black (Ryan), Patricia Kirk (Carmon) and Linda Gooden (Trent); sister, Virginia Thom; grandchildren, Summer Wilcox (John), Rebekah Black, Hunter O'Brien (Taylor), Bradley Dean (Natasha), Sarah Black, Aliza Gooden, John Gooden and Michael Kirk and Katy Kirk; great-grandchildren, Anna Wilcox, Alice Wilcox, Mickle O'Brien and Emmberly Dean; and a number of nieces and nephews and extended family.
Mary Spruill Clemmons was born June 5, 1944 in Pickens County, Ala. to the late William Morris Spruill and Ruby Nell Stokes Spruill. She was a bookkeeper for Clemmons Trucking Inc. She was a member and very active in the Gordo First United Methodist Church and in the community.
Pallbearers will be Brad Dean, John Wilcox, Taylor O'Brien, Michael Spruill, Terry Brownlee, Larry Brownlee, Steven Hester and Bryan Hester.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Gordo First United Methodist Church food pantry c/o Gordo First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 343, Gordo, AL 35466.
