ALICEVILLE | Mary Elizabeth "Libbet" Davidson Park, age 91, of Aliceville, Ala., died August 24, 2015, at St. Martin's in the Pines, Birmingham, Ala. Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 26, 2015, at Aliceville First Presbyterian Church with Rev. H. Huey Gardner, St. Mary's on the Highlands Episcopal Church and recently retired Dr. Thomas G. Kay, Jr. of Aliceville First Presbyterian Church. A private graveside service will be held at Franconia-Oak Grove Cemetery with Skelton Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall.
She was preceded in death by first husband, W.D. Davis, Jr.; second husband, James Verner Park, Jr.; and her parents.
Survivors include sons, W.D. "Bill" Davis, III (Jane), and James Verner "Jim" Park, III (Kathy); five grandchildren, William Alexander Davis, Jessica Anne Davis, Clayton Park Trotter (Blair), Davidson Somerville Park and Francis Gardner Park II; and 3 great grandchildren.
Mary Elizabeth was born January 5, 1924, the daughter of late Harry F. Davidson and Mary Boyd Davidson of Livingston, Ala. where she was raised. She graduated from Livingston High School, attended Judson College and graduated from the University of Alabama, School of Commerce. She was a member of the Tri Delta Sorority and later received her Master's Degree in Social Work from Tulane University.
She lived most of her adult life in Aliceville, Ala., married to J.V. Park, Jr. and known to everyone as "Libbet". She was active in all aspects of the community. She was a member of Aliceville First Presbyterian Church where she was an officer in the Women in the Church and active in the Warrior Presbytery Women in the Church. Libbet was a member of the DAR, Friends of the Aliceville Public Library, Aliceville Little Theater, Aliceville Museum, Thursday Bridge Club, New Era Arts Club, The Gardeners, two supper clubs and a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. She was an officer in many of the organizations, usually serving as Treasurer.
