Obituary

GORDO | Mary Nell Estes Sullivan, age 86, of Gordo, died March 19, 2015, at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, March 22, 2015, at Gordo First United Methodist Church with Rev. Ron McKay officiating. Burial will follow in Gordo City Cemetery with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will be tonight, Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. The body will lie in state 30 minutes prior to service at the church.She was preceded in death by her husband, James Elton Sullivan, Sr.; daughter, Angie Sullivan Junkin; her parents; sister, Melva Estes; and brothers, Joe, Ruben and Ennis Estes.Survivors include her son, Jimmy Sullivan and wife, Donna of Gordo, Ala.; son-in-law, Glendon Junkin of Gordo, Ala.; sister-in-law, Jean Sullivan of Gordo, Ala.; four grandchildren, Alex Sullivan (Meagan), Mandy Junkin, Glen Junkin (Ashley) and Scott Junkin (Kelly); seven great-grandchildren, Grayson Alexander Sullivan, Paten, Preston, Ian, Maggie, Camille and Reid Junkin; nieces, Emily Johnson and Barbara Yarbrough; and nephew, Roger Estes.Mrs. Sullivan was born April 23, 1928 in Pickens County, Alabama to the late Lewis Cohen Estes and Dollie McDaniel Estes. She was a member of Gordo First United Methodist Church, a retired bookkeeper for the University of Alabama and a lifelong resident of Pickens County.Pallbearers will be Mark Comerford, Sammy Sanders, Roddy Sanders, Johnny Mansel, Fred Johnson and Glendon Junkin.Honorary pallbearers are Johnny and Judy Mansel, Harold and Carolyn Davis, Christy Stephens, Randolph and Denise Trull, Rocky and Melba Montgomery, Duane Mitchell, Albert and Bessie McGee, Steve and Debbie Peeks, Pat Austin, Tenza Housel, Kim Sanders, Frank and June Elmore, Daryl and Lynn Moss, Dale and Robin Lancaster, Mike and Amy Cox, Beverly Comerford, Donna Sanders, Mitch McCafferty, Reggie and Gretchen McCafferty, Cindy and Craig Fry, Tim and Dana Parker, Scott Parker, members of Gordo First United Methodist Church and all friends and family of the Gordo community.
