CARROLLTON – Mary Agnes Wright, age 96, of Carrollton, Ala., died July 24, 2016 in Aliceville Manor Nursing Home. Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at First Baptist Church of Pickensville with Rev. Tim Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Magnolia Memorial Gardens with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will be one hour prior and immediately following service at the church.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, George McCafferty, second husband, James H. Wright; two sons, George Virgil McCafferty and Samuel Marion McCafferty; two stepsons, Bobby Wright and Don Wright; her parents; one sister, Dorothy Jane Rickman; and four brothers, Boyd, Rufus, Leroy and Elmore Rickman.
Survivors include her daughters, Mary Jane Frembgen, Codelin Walker and Vickie McCafferty Ezelle; son, William Haywood McCafferty; a special, loving, caregiver who saw her every day, Marianna Ezelle Britt; 18 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, 23 great-great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Mary was born November 3, 1919 in Lee Bend, Alabama to the late Samuel Jackson Rickman and Carrie Jane Jones Rickman. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Pickensville, a retired employee of Westinghouse, a homemaker and a well-known resident of Pickens County.
Pallbearers will be Joshua Simpson, Seth Smith, Spencer Smith, Michael Ezelle, Tyler Frembgen and Matt Britt.
Honorary pallbearers are Mrs. Nell Holliman, Dr. Dale Robbins, Dr. Timothy Bassett, David Ellis, Bill and Jean Dison, Aliceville Manor Nursing Home, and members of Women's II Sunday School Class of First Baptist Church of Pickensville.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to the Alabama Baptist Children's Home, P.O. Box 361767, Birmingham, Ala. 35236-1767.
