Max C. Wiginton, Sr., age 83, of Gordo, AL passed away November 18, 2021 at his residence. Memorial services will be 11:00 am Saturday, November 20, 2021 at Gordo First United Methodist Church Family Life Center with Rev. Marvin McCormick officiating. A private burial will be held in Gordo City Cemetery with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will be immediately following the service at the church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lenore "Nonie" Wiginton and his parents.
Survivors include his sons, Max Clark Wiginton, Jr. and wife, Casey and Thomas O'neal Wiginton; sister, Kay Corbin (Warren); five grandchildren, Corey Porter, Drew Porter, Davis Wiginton, Madelyn Grace Wiginton and Millie Kate Wiginton and special nephew, Blake Corbin.
Max was born September 14, 1938 in Pickens County, Alabama to the late Leon O'neal Wiginton and Ethel McCafferty Wiginton. Max graduated with a business degree from the University of Alabama and also Banking School at Louisiana State University. He was a member of Gordo First United Methodist Church, a retired employee of First National Bank of Gordo and a veteran of the Army National Guard. Max was an avid sports fan and loyal supporter of Gordo High School football and of course the University of Alabama.
Pallbearers will be Danny Duffy, Drew Elmore, Corey Porter, Drew Porter, Blake Corbin and Warren Corbin.
Honorary Pallbearers are Larry McGee, Joe Donald Wood, Robert Earl McCool, Jack Sanders, Ken Bailey, Lester Lewis, Dr. Scott Fulgham, Amanda Burns and staff of Heritage Health Care and former bank employees.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to Gordo First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 343, Gordo, AL 35466.
