Melvan Brown Elmore, age 83, of Gordo, AL passed away December 9, 2020 at her residence. Graveside services will be 11:00 am Saturday, December 12, 2020 at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. David Tunnell officiating and Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. The family will receive friends at the Elmore home and there will be a short visitation immediately following the service at the graveside.
She was preceded in death by her parents; infant brother, Donald Dean Brown and brothers, Winfred Brown, Wilford Brown and William Brown.
Survivors include her husband, James O. Elmore of Gordo; her children, James Dewey Elmore (Wendy) of Gordo, Melissa Elmore Dove (Stan) of Camden and Danny O'Neal Elmore of Gordo; sister, Willa Dean Smith (Charles) of Northport; four grandchildren, Cherry Dove O'Neal and Alex Dove (Frances) of Fairhope, Nick Tilley and Mary Tilley of Northport; six great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
Melvan was born May 22, 1937 in Pickens County, Alabama to the late Henry Dotson Brown and Mary Richardson Brown. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church, a retired employee for the Pickens County Board of Education and retired employee of Peco Farms.
Honorary Pallbearers are Hospice of West Alabama, bus drivers of Pickens County Board of Education (Gordo), good friends, Gypsy Strickland, Bobbie Jean Sanderson and Connie McMahon.
