Merline Sartor Cowart, age 92, of Ethelsville, AL passed away April 13, 2022 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Columbus, MS. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Friday, April 15, 2022 at Skelton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Roy Plymon and Rev. Melvin Mordecai officiating. Burial will follow in Mineral Springs Baptist Church Cemetery with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will be one hour prior and immediately following the service at the funeral home.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Raymond Owen Cowart; granddaughter, Jennifer Diane Cowart; her parents; two brothers and one sister.
Survivors include her three sons, Billy Cowart (Diane), Bobby Cowart (Rhonda) and Tony Cowart (Sherry); sister, Joyce Dans; six grandchildren, Stacey (Ronnie), Jason (Rena), Kari (Seth), Casey, Kenny (Joy) and Lindsey (Casey); ten great-grandchildren, Abby, Jordan, Celie, Carson, Allie, Jacob, Meridith, Maddi, Ellie and Kent; two great-great grandchildren, Brody and Brett and a number of nieces and nephews.
Merline was born July 12, 1929 in Alabama to the late John Sartor and Clemmie Jaynes Sartor. She was a member of Mineral Springs Baptist Church and a retired employee of Westinghouse with 25 years of service and a former employee of United Technologies in Columbus, MS.
Honorary Pallbearers are Tyler McShan, Donald Herrington, Booty Cox and her Mineral Springs Baptist Church family.
