Obituary

TUSCALOOSA – Mildred Howell Faber, age 93, of Tuscaloosa, died December 10, 2016, at Hospice of West Alabama. Services will be 11 a.m. today, December 13, 2016, at Gordo First United Methodist Church with Rev. Ron McKay officiating. Burial will follow in the Gordo City Cemetery with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the sanctuary.She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Donald C. Faber; her parents; sister, Ruth Howell Glass; brother, Ralph Howell; infant brother, Frank Howell; and great-nephew, Scott Glass.Survivors include her sister, Barbara H. Bailey and husband, Sammy; brother, Jack Howell and wife, Octavia; and a number of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews.Mildred was born October 19, 1923 in Gordo, Alabama to the late Garnett W. Howell and Bertha McAteer Howell.Mildred grew up in her beloved town of Gordo, Alabama and after marrying, she lived in Timonium, Maryland for over sixty years. During those years, she never failed to make the trip home to Alabama for events involving her siblings or her nieces and nephews. She lived happily the last four years at Morning Point Assisted Living where she made many special friends and loved dearly those who helped her in any way. Mildred was a beautiful example of the saying ''age is only a number''. She lived life to the fullest and knew that her strength and blessings came from her Heavenly Father. She will forever hold a special place in the hearts of her family and friends. Pallbearers will be William H. Glass, Greg Howell, Richard Howell, Byron Howell, David Howell, Sammy Sanders and Mitch Dyer. Honorary pallbearers are residents and staff of Morning Point Assisted Living. In lieu of flowers, that family suggests that memorials be made to Hospice of West Alabama, 3851 Loop Road, Tuscaloosa, AL 35404 or Gordo First United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 343, Gordo, AL 35466.
