Minton Henry "Mint" Mullenix, age 91, of Gordo, AL passed away September 8, 2023 at his residence. Funeral services will be 10:00 am Tuesday, September 12, 2023 at Skelton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Marvin McCormick officiating and Bobby Cowart delivering the eulogy. Burial will follow in Center Springs Cemetery with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will follow the service at the funeral home.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Hazel Junkin Mullenix; his parents; granddaughter, Stephanie Ann Mullenix; brothers, Herbert Mullenix and Joe Mullenix and sister, Mable Rich.
Survivors include his wife of 18 years, Dorothy Ruth "Dot" Mullenix; his son, Steve Mullenix and wife, Sherry of Gardendale; stepson, Doug Robertson and wife, Kathy of Bolton, MS; grandson, Dr. Alan Mullenix (Dr. Lexi Pasi) of Salt Lake City, UT; granddaughters, Lauren Hurst of Gardendale and Erin Nicholas of Boston, MA; great-grandson, Liam Hurst of Gardendale; great-granddaughter, Saoirse Pasi of Salt Lake City, UT; brother-in-law, Gerald Junkin (Bonnie) of Northport; nieces and nephews, Jason Mullenix, Kevin and Myra Mullenix, Susan and Micky Pate, Keith and Deborah Mullenix, all of Gordo and Jennifer and Shawn Syx of Canton, GA.
Mint was born November 26, 1931 in Geiger, Alabama to the late Dock Davis Mullenix and Hummie Hall Mullenix. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served at the 813th Replacement Unit in Gordo, AL and was very proud of the accommodations and awards he received. Mint was the oldest member of the congregation at Cornerstone Church in Gordo, AL, having attended that church for over 60 years and a member of Gordo Masonic Lodge #564.
Mint enjoyed working with his hands and built numerous custom trailers which are still in use today. He also built the home he and his family have lived in for over 60 years, as well as a second home in Orange Beach, AL which brought him and his family many years of fun and uncountable memories. Mint found enjoyment in shrimping, growing oranges, riding his golf cart around the neighborhood and sharing time with all the friends he had in the Orange Beach community.
Pallbearers will be Freddie Smith, Mitch Dyer, Jason Mullenix, Fred Johnson, Kevin Mullenix and Tony Elmore.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to Cornerstone Church, P.O. Box 343, Gordo, AL 35466.
