Obituary

REFORM | Murray Gene Maughan, age 82, of Reform, died December 3, 2014, at home. Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, December 6, 2014, at Arbor Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Kenneth Smith and Rev. Eddie Rogers officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will be Friday, December 5, 2014 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. The body will lie in state 30 minutes prior to services at the church.
He was preceded in death by his son, Delmer G. Maughan; infant daughter, Rose Ann Maughan; his parents; infant sister, Rosa Eulene Maughan; brother, Joe Maughan; father-in-law, Henry Jefferson "Pat" Sentell; and mother-in-law, Alvie Collier Sentell.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Vivian Louise Sentell Maughan of Reform, Ala.; daughter, Cynthia "Cindy" Maughan Rogers (Eddie) of Wiggins, Miss.; his three special grandsons, William "Mike" Maughan (Lisa), Jeff Rogers (Kathy) and Anthony Maughan (Ashley); his 11 very special great-grandchildren, Shaun, Alex, Colby and Makayla Maughan, Kaitlin and Jeffery "Manzo" Rogers, Roman Cole, Austin, twin girls, Addison and Abigail and Alexis Maughan; brother, Billy Maughan (Judy); and sisters, Polly Watts (Jack) and Peggy Skelton (Hayse). He also leaves behind his very special "fur babies" Marcie and Pepper and his special angel, Candace Anderson.
Murray was born November 13, 1932 in Gordo, Alabama to the late L. C. Maughan and Alice Virginia "Jean" Burkhalter Maughan. He was an U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and a retired employee of Westinghouse after 32 years of service. Murray was very instrumental in starting the Pickens County Rescue Squad in 1972. He had a big heart and was always helping others.
Pallbearers will be Mike Maughan, Jeff Rogers, Anthony Maughan, Caleb Anderson, Christopher Skelton and Keith Skelton.
