REFORM | Oliver F. Elmore, age 63, of Reform, was granted his heavenly wings Jan. 30, 2014, when he passed at Princeton Baptist Medical Center. Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014, at Skelton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Melvin Mordecai officiating and Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home.
Oliver was known by most as "O", Big O, or Bozo (by his co-workers from Alabama Power). Oliver had a huge heart. He never met a stranger and was always willing to help those in need. He was quick with a story about his grand kids, whom he loved dearly.
Oliver was born in Pickens County, Oct. 1, 1950 to Oliver P. and Eloise Daniel Elmore. Oliver resided in Reform, Ala. until he was called up for bigger things. Oliver joins in heaven, his parents, his son, Shawn Turnipseed, and many other family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Reneita Elmore, his children, Brad Elmore (Betsy), Jeremy Turnipseed (Amber), Bethany West (Nathan), and his sisters, Berry Lee (Olin), Patricia Leach (Larry), Judy Harless (Johnny), Roma Criswell (Stan), father and mother-in-law, Tom and Peggy Hubbard, as well as many cousins and special nieces and nephews.
Oliver's pride and joy were his 6 granddaughters: Callie, McKinley, Brinley, Mary Campbell, Maddy, and Lilly. The granddaughter count is going up to 7 in May, with newest addition due to Brad and Betsy. Oliver loved spending time with his girls. He always had a story about what they were doing or had done.
Oliver was born with the gift of talk. He could talk to anyone, anywhere at anytime. He never met anyone without getting their story and sharing a couple about his grand kids or family.
Oliver enjoyed going to auctions. He could buy the strangest things, and then, convince people they needed a box of flip flops in November.
Oliver was dedicated to his family. Everyone that ever met him or knew him has some great stories to tell. "O" will forever live in the hearts of his family and friends.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to Palmer Home for Children, P.O. Box 746, Columbus, MS 39703 or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital , 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
