Obituary

Opalene King House, age 91, of Gordo, Ala., died January 18, 2019, at her residence. Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 22, 2019, at Hannah United Methodist Church, located on Hannah Church Road Highway 159 North Gordo, AL 35466, with Rev. Charles Herron and Rev. Byron Fair officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will be one hour prior and immediately following the service at the church.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years and the love of her life, Samuel Oliver House; her parents; and one brother, Joe King.
Survivors include her daughter, Gwen Sullivan and husband, Jerome of Gordo, Ala.; son, Rick House and wife, Rita of McCalla, Ala.; brother, Jack King of Greensboro, Ala.; sister-in-law, Ruby King of Gordo, Ala.; grandchildren, Kelley Whitley and husband, William, Brett Bridges and wife, Ann, Brad Sullivan, Kristin Colburn and husband, Jesse, and Jason Johnson; and great-grandchildren, Blake and Braeden Bridges, Will Whitley and Harrison and Bennett Colburn.
Opalene was born July 25, 1927 in Gordo, Alabama to the late Leslie King and Maudie Connell King. She was a member of Hannah United Methodist Church, a retired employee of First National Bank of Central Alabama and a well known and loved resident of the Gordo community.
Pallbearers will be William Whitley, Brett Bridges, Brad Sullivan, Jesse Colburn, Jim King, Robby King, Lonny Jenkins and Randall Trull.
Honorary pallbearers are LuLu Porter, Jennifer, B. Elmore, Dr. and Mrs. Phillip Hemstreet, Dr. and Mrs. Keith Debelle, Dr. Fabian Salinas, 6th North and Center nurses of DCH Regional Medical Center, Las Amigas Club members, retirees and staff of First National Bank of Central Alabama, Octavia Howell, Wayne and Diane Burkhalter, Earlene Nicholes, Kannie Mae Woolbright, Tommy and Carol White, members of Hannah UMC and staff of Hospice of West Alabama.
Special appreciation to mother's caregivers over the past seven years, Leona Carroll, Charlotte Anderson, Ruby Livingston, Wilda Lee and Alice Parker.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Hannah UMC c/o Sandra Fair, 7677 Highway 159, Gordo, AL 35466 or to Hospice of West Alabama, 3851 Loop Rd., Tuscaloosa, AL 35404.
