She was the daughter of the late Jim and Ethel Hardy. She grew up learning the value of hard work being the daughter of a sharecropping family. She also, knew the love of family in being the one of ten children. She met and married the late Robert Thrasher, devotedly caring for him until his death after nearly 50 years of marriage.
She is survived by her three boys, Ed Thrasher (Gina), Tony Thrasher (Carolyn Avery), and Dwight Thrasher (Karla Kraye) with whom she was so proud. Her grandkids Jeremy Thrasher, Jessica Magouyrk, Laura McGough, Heather White, Rebecca Parris, Brandi Mordecai, and Josh Thrasher added so much joy to her life. Wyatt Parris, Aiden Booth, Waylon Parris, Collin White, Emma Hildreth, Wiley Parris, Easton Hildreth, Liza White, Allison MaGouyrk, Whitney Parris, Georgia Thrasher, Saylor Thrasher, and Tripp Thrasher were her great-grandchildren whom she loved so much.
She was one of ten children being survived by her sister, Ella Holman from Gordo, and two brothers John Hardy from Reform, and Ray Hardy from Gordo but being preceded in death by brothers William Hardy, Joe Hardy, Jamie Hardy, and Truman Hardy, as well as sisters Gladys Meherg and Doris Parker.
In addition to caring for her family, Orie, with having a strong sense of work value and never one to be idle, took different jobs throughout her life to help support her family. She worked at Westinghouse, Walmart, and at various restaurants or cafes around the area. She worked very hard all her life either taking care of her three boys, her husband, Robert, keeping her house and yard immaculately clean, or growing vegetables in her garden. She was also an active member of and enjoyed fellowship at Corinth Baptist Church.
She believed in work, but also in having a joyful time with her loved ones. She enjoyed fishing, shopping, oil painting, dancing, and playing games with many intense dominoes matches at her house. She was also known for cooking the best chicken and dressing, fried apple pies, and tea cakes. She was always ready for a good time and up for adventures with her family and friends.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to Corinth Baptist Church, 12808 Corinth Church Road, Elrod, AL 35458.
