Paul "Doobie" Clay, age 58, of Carrollton, AL died May 15, 2019 at Hospice of West Alabama. Funeral services 2:00 pm Saturday, May 18, 2019 at Carrollton Baptist Church with Rev. Shawn McDaniel and Rev. Robert Heard officiating. Burial will follow in Marvin Chapel Cemetery with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will be one hour prior and immediately following the service at the church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, John Mark Clay and nephew, John Michael Shultz.
Survivors include his wife, Debra Locke Clay; brother, Olan Clay (Betty); two sisters, Gladys Nicely and Renee Shultz (Randy); father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jimmy and Maxine Locke; nieces and nephews, Rhonda Tilley, Doug Nicely (Tabitha), Tammy Nicely, Katie Porter, Kellie Pugh (Chad), Kasey Clay (Ashleigh), Jessica Bostick (Ryan) and special friends, Perry Hickman, Billy and Darlene Brownlee and Kenneth Acker.
Paul was born November 15, 1960 in Reform, Alabama to the late John Olan Clay and Alice Magnolia Acker Clay. He was a foreman at McGee Lumber Company, a member of Carrollton Volunteer Fire Department and a life long resident of Pickens County.
Pallbearers will be Perry Hickman, Billy Brownlee, Kenneth Acker, Doug Nicely, David Tilley,
Jr., Caleb McGee, Johnny Will Pugh, Chuck McDaniel and Jack Porter.
Honorary Pallbearers are Carrollton Volunteer Fire Department, Ricky and Joyce Ann Williams, Debra and Johnny Noland, Jimmy T. Jones, John and Sherry McGee, Dustin McGee, Jody McGee, Don Hickman, the Yearby family, McGee Lumber employees, West Alabama AG employees, Encompass and Amedisys Home Health, DCH 2 SE Oncology Wing, Amy from MICU and employees of Hospice of West
Alabama.
