Obituary

Paul Truman Quimby, age 80, of Gordo, AL died July 3, 2026 at his residence. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Wednesday, July 8, 2026 at Skelton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Damon Rose officiating. Burial will be in Sand Springs Cemetery in Gordo with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will follow the service at the funeral home.

He was preceded in death by his father, Paul Quimby; mother, Edna Barrett; stepfather, Coleman Barrett and stepbrother, Robert Barrett.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Janice Shirley Quimby; two sons, Kevin Quimby (Barbara) and Chad Quimby (Rhonda), all of Gordo, AL; seven grandchildren, Megan Ramage (Austin), Emilee Oden (Deavon), Rusty Kizzire, Hunter Kizzire, Samuel Kizzire (Arin), Kaylee Quimby and Cole Quimby and four great-grandchildren, Beau Ramage, Dallas Oden, Kolten Oden and Hudson Kizzire.

Truman was born July 31, 1945 in Gordo, Alabama to Paul and Edna Quimby. His father Paul passed away before he was born, and Edna was later remarried to Coleman Barrett. Coleman was the only father Truman knew. He was a lifelong resident of Gordo and was a truck driver for Peco Farms. Truman enjoyed high school sporting events, Alabama football and years of following his granddaughters playing softball. He spent lots of days camping in his RV at different campgrounds.

Pallbearers will be Cole Quimby, Rusty Kizzire, Hunter Kizzire, Samuel Kizzire, Austin Ramage and Deavon Oden.

The family would life to thank Amedisys Hospice for their outstanding care given. Thanks for all the prayers and visits from friends and family during this difficult time.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to Amedisys Hospice, 1300 McFarland Blvd. NE, Suite 340, Tuscaloosa, AL 35406.
