ETHELSVILLE | Ramon Leroy Lancaster, age 71, of Ethelsville, died July 22, 2014, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Columbus, Mississippi. Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, July 24, 2014 at Ethelsville Baptist Church with Rev. Mel Howton officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Reta Estes Lancaster; sisters, Marie Jaynes (Robert Earl), Audrey Gore, and Diane Bain (Bobby); brother, John Earl Lancaster (Barbara); several nieces and nephews; and special friend and fishing partner, Danny Malone.
Mr. Lancaster was born January 9, 1943 in Carrollton, Alabama to the late Elmer E. Lancaster and Mary O. Harcrow Lancaster. He was a retired employee of Mount Vernon Mills with 49 years of service, a veteran of the U.S. Army National Guard and attended Ethelsville Baptist Church. He was an avid fisherman, a member of Gold Wing Motorcycle Club and Southern Cruisers Car Club and was one of the founding members of Pine Grove Hunting Club.
Pallbearers will be Kenneth Jaynes, Alan Jaynes, Mike Gore, Jimmy Bain, Tim Livingston and John Earl Lancaster, Jr.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Ethelsville Baptist Church Building Fund, 230 Main Street, Ethelsville, AL 35461.
