Charles Ray McDaniel, age 84, of Reform, AL passed away July 16, 2023 at DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa. Funeral services will be 10:00 am Wednesday, July 19, 2023 at Skelton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Larry Shelton officiating. Burial will follow in Arbor Springs Baptist Church Cemetery with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will be immediately following the service at the funeral home.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons. William Ross McDaniel and Richard McDaniel and sister, Helen McDaniel Spain (Earl).
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Faye Falls McDaniel; son, Tony McDaniel and wife, Kathy of Carrollton; sister Maurine Kyles (Vic) of Northport; special sister-in-law, Bonnie Kyles of Reform; two grandchildren, Jessica Morris of Reform and Jodi Griffith (Jonathan) of Fayette; four great-grandchildren, Parker Kate Griffith, Stella Rey Morris, Ross Griffith and Rhett Griffith; nephew, Danny Spain of Reform and great-niece, Shannon Gann (Jonathan) of Reform.
Ray was born October 17, 1938 in Pickens County, Alabama to the late Charlie R. McDaniel and Ada Atkins McDaniel. Ray was a people person and had many friends near and far. He was a second generation Barber who served his community for 68 years. He loved being a barber. He also loved buying and selling whether it be cars, land, cows or what he called "his treasures". He was a professional bargain spotter. Ray loved being with people and he could usually figure out how he might be related to those he met. He loved his family with a sacrificial love. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to many. He was a faithful member and a deacon at Arbor Springs Baptist Church in Reform, AL.
Pallbearers will be Jonathan Griffith, Nick Shelton, Greg Turner, Danny Spain, Tommy Shaw and Dale Shelton.
Honorary Pallbearers are the Arbor Springs Baptist Church family and community, nurses on the Cardiac ICU at DCH and his many loyal customers.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to World Vision at www.worldvision.org or to Arbor Springs Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 879, Reform, AL 35481.
