Obituary

GORDO Raybon Humphryes, age 70, of Gordo, died December 5, 2013, at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, December 8, 2013, at Skelton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Todd Burkhalter officiating. Burial will follow in Holly Springs Cemetery in the Bostic community with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a number of brothers and sisters.

Survivors include his wife, Katherine Humphryes; daughters, Jenny Gaines (David) and Sharon Mullenix (Chan); son, Ken Humphryes (Jessica); four grandchildren, Jamey and Kinsley Rae Humphyres and Brayson and Garrett Mullenix; special "granddaughters", Leslie Starnes and Terri White; and a host of brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and special friends.

Mr. Humphryes was born April 1, 1943 in Walker County, Ala. to Rubin and Minnie Gant Humphryes. He was an employee of Barr Realty and a veteran of the Army Reserve. Raybon enjoyed working on and rebuilding cars with his lifelong friends, Duell Holloway and Cliff Montgomery. Over the course of several years he built a 1928 Model A. Ford in which he enjoyed driving with his grandchildren who were his pride and joy. He enjoyed watching Alabama football.

Honorary pallbearers are his nephews.
