Raymond Russell Hewitt, age 67, of Gordo, AL died August 3, 2019 at DCH Regional Medical Center. Memorial Services will be 1:30 pm Sunday, August 11, 2019 at Gordo First Baptist Church with Rev. Pat Powell, Brent Edgeworth, Kerry Shipp and Justin Trull officiating and Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will be immediately following the service at the church.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Debbie Hewitt; daughter, Kim Hewitt; son, Rick Hewitt (Pam); stepdaughters, Wendy Watkins and Cendy Sutton; brother, Joe Hewitt (Cissy); eleven grandchildren, Brandon Ledbetter, Jonathan Gore, Haley Gore, Lindsey Hewitt, Randy Hewitt, Samantha Sutton, Brooklyn Sutton, Savannah Snider, Brody Snider, Memphis Pecukonis and Montana Ramer; great-grandson, Bentley and best friend, Arnold Sanford (Rita).
Raymond was born July 6, 1952 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama to the late Russell Hewitt and Dorothy O'Mary Hewitt. He was a member of Gordo First Baptist Church and a retired employee of B. F. Goodrich. After Ray's retirement, he took up golf and enjoyed playing with his buddies at Hidden Meadows. Ray played semi-pro baseball in the 70's and was an avid fan of all sports especially Alabama Football and the Atlanta Braves.
Ray was a devoted husband, Dad and grandfather.
