Rev. Roy Lee Hamilton, age 82, of Gordo, AL died August 20, 2026 at his residence. Funeral services will be 6:00 pm Monday, August 24, 2026 at Skelton Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Dereck Fretwell and Bro. Mike Hall officiating. Burial will be in Lann Cemetery in Greenwood Springs, MS with Skelton Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be one hour prior and immediately following the service at the funeral home.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Jennifer Hamilton and his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Sandy Hamilton of Gordo, AL; daughter, Tammy Fretwell and husband, Dennis of Petal, MS; sons, Zac Hamilton of Cullman, AL and Zed Perrigin and wife, Stacy of Monroeville, AL; six grandchildren, Dusty Fretwell, Dereck Fretwell, Dalton Fretwell, Sage Perrigin, Willow Perrigin and River Perrigin; eleven great-grandchildren; mother of his daughter, Dean Loftis (Frank) of Columbus, MS and a special friend who was like a brother, Dan O’Mary.

Roy was born July 2, 1944 in Monroe County, Mississippi to the late Roy A. Hamilton and Violet Sandlin Hamilton. He was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church and a retired finance manager/automobile management team at Bill Russell Ford in Columbus, MS. Bro. Roy was a Pastor and evangelist for Southern Baptist convention for 40 years and an avid bass fisherman.

Pallbearers will be Dennis Fretwell, Dusty Fretwell, Dalton Fretwell, Roy Sandlin, Wayne Perkins and Bobby Shields.

Honorary Pallbearers are Alton Sandlin, W. C. Harris, Smithville High School Class of 1963, Nikki Hammond, Chaplin Mark McGee, Dr. Jay Parker and members of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to St. Jude Children’s Hospital Memorial Giving, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn. 38105-9959.
