GORDO – Rex Bailey Kirk, age 87, of Gordo, Ala., died January 5, 2019, at Aliceville Manor Nursing Home. Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 8, 2019, at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Trull and Rev. Mike Bonner officiating. Burial will follow in Liberty Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will be one hour prior and immediately following the service at the church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter, Karen Kay Kirk and sister, Mary Ballard.
Survivors include his wife of 20 years, Carol Kirk of Gordo, Ala.; daughter, Sabrina Kirk Ammons (Bobby) of Pensacola, Fla.; son, Carmon Kirk (Patricia) of Gordo, Ala.; stepsons, Wendell Boykin of Samantha, Ala. and Luke Boykin (Linda) of Anchorage, Alaska; brother, Bob Kirk (Joan) of Dade City, Fla.; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Rex was born December 31, 1931 in the Kennie Hill community of Gordo, Alabama to the late Millard Eugene Kirk and Bessie Mae Allen Kirk Lancaster. He was a veteran of the United States Army and was a retired supervisor with the Pickens County Commission.
Honorary pallbearers are members of Calvary Baptist Church and staff of Aliceville Manor Nursing Home.
