Rheta Fields Sanders, age 87 of Gordo, AL passed away August 29, 2021 peacefully at her residence. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday September 1, 2021 at Gordo First United Methodist Church with Rev. Marvin McCormick officiating and Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will follow the service in the church.
Rheta was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Mack Sanders Sr.; parents Cluff Fields and Helen Atkins Fields; infant son, Richard Kerry Sanders; sister, Peggy Snipes; and brother in law, Albert Snipes.
She was survived by her daughter, Susan Sanders (Jeff); son, Samuel Mack Sanders Jr. (Donna); grandchildren, Andrea Duffy, Morgan Sanders, and Jacob Sanders (Emmie); and great- granddaughter, Ava Caroline Duffy.
Mrs. Rheta was born on December 13, 1933 to the late Cluff and Helen A. Fields. She was a member of Gordo First United Methodist Church and a well known resident of the Gordo community. Her life was a beautiful example of self- sacrificial  love as she faithfully served God, her family, and others.
