Richard Blakney, age 70, of Gordo, AL passed away February 24, 2022 at his residence. Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at Skelton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Blakney officiating. Burial will follow in Double Branches Independent Baptist Church Cemetery with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will be one hour prior and immediately following the service at the funeral home.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Connie Free Blakney; his parents; brother, Ronald Lee Blakney; sister, Rebecca "Becky" Blakney and niece, Dawn Leigh Fleishman.
Survivors include his daughter, Jennifer Bowles (Kenneth); sons, James "Jamie" Blakney (Cindy) and Billy Byars (Monica); sister, Patricia Richardson; sister-in-law, Brenda Blakney; brother-in-law, Paul Channell and a number of nieces and nephews.
Richard was born April 21, 1951 in Fayette County, Alabama to the late James "Junior" Blakney, Jr. and Bertha Lee Crowell Blakney. He was a retired employee of Hunt Refining Company, a Charter Member of the Alabama Crimson Riders Motorcycle Club and a lifelong resident of Pickens County.
Pallbearers will be Kenneth Bowles, Chad Ferguson, Robert Tipton, Zach Smith, Greg Sellers, David Channell, Nick Blakney and David Blakney.
Honorary Pallbearers are the Alabama Crimson Riders, Mike and Judy Estes, Dee and Robby Parker, Dr. William Hill and Dr. Debra Davis.
