Richard Joseph Matyjasik , age 66, of Gordo, AL passed away on Friday February 10. 2023, at his residence. Memorial services will be 6:00 P.M. Thursday, February 16, 2023 at Skelton Funeral Home Chapel in Reform, AL. Visitation will be immediately following the service.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his aunt, Dottie Bates; nephew, Kevin Jepson; and father in law, Robert Lincoln Austin.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret Elaine Matyjasik; sons, Christopher Douglas Matyjasik of Browns Mills, N.J., Zachary Ryan Matyjasik of Albuquerque, NM, and Cameron Alexander Matyjasik of Gordo, AL; mother in law, Patricia Elaine Austin; sisters, Debbie Jepson and Karen Ayers both of New Jersey; and sister in law, Teresa Austin of Columbus, MS.
Richard was born August 26, 1956, to the late Joseph Paul and Marie Theresa Bates Matyjasik in Camden, N.J. He served in the U.S. Air Force Sr. Air Crew and was a believer of the Catholic faith.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to the Gordo Grenadier Band c/o Gordo High School 630 4th St. NW Gordo, AL 35466 or the V.A. Medical Center, Attn: Deborah Cain , 3701 Loop Rd. E. Tuscaloosa, AL 35404.
