Richard Eugene Smith, Jr., age 61 of Gordo, AL passed away October 11, 2024 at his residence.  Funeral services will be 11:00 am Monday, October 14, 2024 at Skelton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mike Hall officiating.  Burial will be in Liberty Cemetery with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing.  Visitation will be one hour prior and immediately following the service at the funeral home.
He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Eugene Smith, Sr.
Survivors include his wife, Valerie Pinion Smith of Gordo; mother, Jackie Kirk Ray of Northport; two daughters, Caroline Smith of Tuscaloosa and Heather Spencer of East Haddam, CT; stepson, Joseph Pinion; brother, Wiley Scott "Scotty" Smith of Northport; sister, Shelly Smith of Tuscaloosa and four grandchildren, Natalie, Gabriel, Penelope and Benjamin.
Richard was born October 1, 1963 in San Diego, California.  He was a former supervisor at Sure Line Turf and a veteran of the United States Navy.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to the Lewis & Faye Manderson Cancer Center, 809 University Blvd. E, Tuscaloosa, AL 35401.
