GORDO | Ricky "Rick" McCrackin, age 62, of Gordo, Ala., died January 1, 2016, at Greene County Hospital. Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 6, 2016, at Skelton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Hershel Owen officiating. Burial will follow in Gordo City Cemetery with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 5, 2016, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.
He was preceded in death by his father, J.K. McCrackin.
Survivors include his wife, Alice McCrackin; daughters, Donna M. Tidmore (Rodger), Denise M. Owen (Jeff), Diane M. Pounders (David) and Kristy Estes (Russell); sons, Chris McCrackin (Angie), Brian McCrackin (Samantha) and Tony Martin (Amy); mother, Nellie Faye McCrackin; sisters, Sherry Phillips and Rhonda Bouldin (Steve); brothers-in-law, Frank Tomasello and George Tomasello (Linda); 16 grandchildren, Polly Kate McCrackin, Jake McCrackin, Danielle McCrackin, Trey McCrackin, Dakota Dyer, Macy Dyer, Tristan Tidmore, Ty Tidmore, Trent Tidmore, Parker Owen, Sydney Owen, Bailey Pounders, Nick Pounders, Dawson Estes, Emilee Estes and Jackson Marrin; one great-grandchild, Chloe Johnson; a number of nieces and nephews; special friends, Jerry and Holly Wilson; and beloved dog, Izzy.
Rick was born September 22, 1953 in Selma, Alabama to Nellie Faye Sullivan McCrackin and the late J.K. McCrackin. He retired from the University of Alabama Facilities Department after 18 years of service. He was owner and operator of Rick's Pest Control Service and was a well-known resident of Pickens County.
Rick was a devoted husband, father, brother and grandfather. Kindhearted and generous, he never met a stranger. His love for children was evident and he was known as "Paw Paw" to many children.
Pallbearers will be Josh Pate, Roman Hudson, Eric Holford, Brad Phillips, Russell Estes and David Pounders.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to Gordo High School Athletic Department, 630 4th Street NW, Gordo, AL 35466.
