Robert J. Keith, age 85, of Hobart, Indiana, died September 10, 2013, at The Sterling House in Portage, Ind. Services were held on September 16, 2013 at Dogwood Chapel in Aliceville, Al. with Rev. Randy Sudduth officiating. Burial was at Franconia-OakGrove Cemetery in Aliceville,Al.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Myrle Wilson Keith; his mother, Myrtle Lee Kindard; and his brother James Miller.

Survivors include his daughters, Betty Lambert ( Robert) of Chesterton, Ind. and Theresa Kietzman ( Charles) of Hobart, Ind.; sons, Mike Keith of Patterson, Calif. and Troy Keith of Empire, Ala; eight grandchildren, Bryon, Erin, Amie, Allison, Renae, Joshua, Erica and Mallory; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Robert was born March 15, 1928 in Cottondale, Alabama. He worked at U.S. Steel, retireing in 1986 after 33 years of service ans was a member of the Local 1014. Robert had been a Hobart resident for 38 years until retiring and returning to his home state of Alabama in 1991. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He loved horse racing, gambling, playing pool, fishing, playing dominoes, dancing and whittling wood.
