CARROLLTON | Robert Bruce McCafferty, Jr., age 89, of Carrollton, died February 21, 2015, at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be 3 p.m. Tuesday, February 24, 2015, at West End Baptist Church with Rev. Jack House and Rev. James Hammack officiating. Burial will follow in Union Chapel Cemetery with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will be Monday, February 23, 2015, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Dogwood Chapel, 200 5th St. NE in Aliceville. The body will lie in state 30 minutes prior to services at the church.He was preceded in death by his grandson, Alan Robert McCafferty; great-granddaughter, Abigail Dodd; his parents; two sisters and three brothers.Survivors include his wife, Doris Thomas McCafferty of Carrollton, Ala.; daughters, Janice Estis (Richard) of Fayette, Ala., Dianne Findley (Ricky) of Reform, Ala., Nancy Howell (Joe) of Northport, Ala., and Betty Leonard (Elmer) of Millport, Ala.; sons, Dale McCafferty (Pam) of Spanish Fort, Ala., Greg McCafferty of Reform, Ala., and Jeff McCafferty of Carrollton, Ala.; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews; and special friend, Glenda Sprinkle.Mr. McCafferty was born August 11, 1925 in Pickens County, Alabama to the late Robert B. McCafferty, Sr. and Mattie Ophelia Bridges McCafferty. He was a member of West End Baptist Church, a retired logger and a well-known resident of Pickens County. Pallbearers will be Rick Estis, Joey Howell, Daniel McCafferty, Andy Duncan, Aubrey Marlowe, Haywood McCafferty, Frankie Dale McCafferty and Tim McCafferty.Honorary pallbearers are doctors, nurses and staff of DCH ICU and 7th floor North and the Union Chapel community.In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Union Chapel Community Club or Cemetery Fund, 4767 Franconia Rd., Carrollton, AL 35447.
