Roger Powell Austin, age 78, of Coker, AL passed away November 23, 2024 at the VA Medical Center in Tuscaloosa.  Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Tuesday, November 26, 2024 at Skelton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Pat Powell officiating.  Burial will be in Big Creek Cemetery in Coker with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing.  Visitation will be one hour prior and immediately following the service at the funeral home.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Jerry Austin and Robert "Bob" Austin.
Survivors include his daughters, Brandi Troxtel (Scott) of Tuscaloosa and Brittney Porter (Bradley) of Romulus; sons, Adam Austin of San Diego, CA and Abraham Austin of Odenville; brother, Joseph "Joe" Austin (Anne) of Akron; two grandchildren, Lily Kate Porter and Sophie Ellen Porter and a number of nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
Roger was born August 22, 1946 in Fayette, Alabama to the late Walton L. Austin and Mary Nell Pennington Austin.  He was the owner of Austin's Jewelry Company, a pilot, a flight instructor and a crop duster.  Roger was also a beekeeper, a member of New Beginning Family Worship Center and a veteran of the United States Navy.
A special thank you to Dr. Stevens, Dr. Fulghum, nurses, and nursing assistants at VA Patriot Point and Grace Hall for loving and caring for dad while he was there.
