July 3, 1923 – December 20, 2018
GORDO - Ronie Byars Driver passed away December 20, 2018, at her residence with her family by her side. She was born July 3, 1925 to James and Mamie Byars.
Services will be today, December 23, 2018, at 2 p.m. at Elmore Center United Methodist Church with Bro. Dave Bailey officiating. Burial will follow in Greenhill Memorial Gardens with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 62 years, Robert; and her granddaughter, Amanda Driver; her sister, Katie Shaw; and brothers, William Byars and Raymond Byars.
Survivors include daughters, Barbara Dyer (Bruce), Connie Elmore (Tony), son, Mike Driver (Marilyn) all of Gordo. Ronie had five grandchildren, Michelle Manning (Greg), Mitch Dyer (Kim), Kelly D. Pate (Jonathan), Ryan Elmore and Luke Elmore (Jennifer). She also had eleven great-grandchildren, Dyer Jones, Drake Jones (Kaley), Kelsey Dyer, Kyson Pate, Collin Pate, Mason Elmore, Ridge Elmore, Addy Elmore, Emily Grimes, Gracie Elmore, Ryder Elmore, and one great-great-grandchild, Alden Jones.
She was a lifelong member of Elmore Center United Methodist Church where she served in many capacities.
Ronie and Robert raised their family in the Gordo community. They were supporters of the Gordo community and schools.
They owned and operated a grocery/service station in the Gordo area for nearly 40 years. Holiday gatherings were a special time for the family, where family and sometimes strangers, staying in their campground, were welcomed guests.
She was a woman of grace, class and dignity and will be missed by many.
Pallbearers will be Mitch Dyer, Dyer Jones, Drake Jones, Ryan Elmore, Luke Elmore, Mason Elmore, Jonathan Pate, Kyson Pate and Greg Manning.
Honorary pallbearers are friends and neighbors of the Gordo Community and members of Elmore Center United Methodist Church. Dr. John Brandon, Dr. Alexis Mason and the staff of Family Practice Center.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Center Springs Cemetery Fund in care of Bennie Mitchell, 2710 County Rd 21, Gordo, AL 35466.
