GORDO – Sammy Cobb, age 70, of Gordo, Ala., went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 8, 2017, at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, August 12, 2017, at Skelton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mike Hall, Rev. Tim Meherg and Rev. David Carns officiating. Burial will follow in Greenhill Memorial Gardens with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will be one hour prior and immediately following the service at the funeral home.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Gerald Cobb.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Linda Duckworth Cobb of Gordo, Ala.; sisters, Peggy Howard of Albertville, Ala. and Rhae Usher of Moody, Ala.; brother, Benny Cobb of Albertville, Ala.; brother-in-law, Eddie Duckworth (Liz) of Columbia, Tenn.; sisters-in-law, Martha Till of Montgomery, Ala. and Sylvia Cobb of Gordo, Ala.; and a host of nieces and nephews who loved him and will miss him dearly.
Sammy was born November 24, 1946 in Albertville, Alabama to the late Bethel E. Cobb and Blondell M. Kirby Cobb. He was a member of New Salem Baptist Church, a retired self- employed businessman and well-known resident of Pickens County.
Pallbearers will be Riley Spain, Joey Griffin, Mitch Sanders, Brian McLaughlin, Mark McLaughlin, Perry Herring, David Richardson and David Kennedy.
Honorary pallbearers are Fayette County High School Class of 1965.
