KENNEDY | Samuel Dewey Spencer, age 103, of Kennedy, Ala., went home to his Heavenly Father on October 17, 2015, at Self Heath Care and Rehab Center in Hueytown, Ala. Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 20, 2015, at Skelton Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Sand Springs Methodist Church Cemetery with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will be one hour prior and immediately following the service.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Spencer; daughter, Nancy Williams Long; four sisters; and four brothers.
Survivors include his grandson, Christian Williams (Beverly); granddaughter, Charity Weaver; five great-grandchildren, Grayson, Spencer, Katherine, Manon and Kate; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Mr. Spencer was born September 12, 1912 in Pickens County, Alabama to the late Samuel Thomas Spencer and Martha Ellen O'Bryant Spencer. He was a retired supervisor with Naval Supply in San Diego, Calif. He attended Mt. Zion Primitive Baptist Church.
