Scott Everette Junkin, age 41, of Washington (formerly of Gordo, Al) passed away March 23, 2018 after a brave battle with brain cancer. Scott was born December 17, 1976 in Tuscaloosa, AL. He is the son of Glendon Junkin and Jane Cameron.
Scott graduated from Gordo High School in Gordo, AL in 1995. He earned a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from University of Alabama in 2001 and a Master's Degree in Business Administration from The Ohio State University. He was united in holy matrimony to Kelly Maurer in 2003 in Fort Loramie, OH. Their marriage was blessed with three children; Ian, 13, Camille, 10, and Reid, 8. Scott was employed as a Project Manager for the Sporlan Division of Parker-Hannifin in Washington, MO.
Scott's children, wife, and family were the center of his world and he enjoyed every moment he was able to spend with them. He was outgoing, fun-loving, playful and an avid technology buff. He coached little league baseball teams and The Vipers select baseball team. Scott also enjoyed watching and attending sporting events, particularly Alabama football and the St. Louis Cardinals. In his spare time, Scott's interests included photography, cooking, eating, and playing with his children.
He was preceded in death by one grandfather, Elbert Taylor, his grandmother, Clara Mae Junkin, and his step-mother, Angie Junkin.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Kelly (Maurer) Junkin of Washington;
his father, Glendon Junkin of Gordo, AL, and his mother Jane (Taylor) Cameron and husband, Joe, of Northport, AL;
two sons: Ian and Reid Junkin of Washington;
one daughter: Camille Junkin of Washington;
two sisters: Mandy Junkin and Husband Brian of Phoenix, AZ, and Anna Jacklin and husband, Andy, of Huntsville, AL;
three brothers: Glen Junkin and wife, Ashley, of Florence AL, Daren Cameron and wife, Krystal, of Tuscaloosa, AL, and Joe Cameron IV of Tuscaloosa, AL;
grandparents: Oliver Junkin of Gordo, AL and Ruth Houdashelt of Tuscaloosa, AL;
parents-in-law: Gary and Chris Maurer of Fort Loramie, OH;
sisters-in-law: Karie Enneking and husband, Paul, of Minster, OH, Jill Hoelscher and husband, Ted, of Fort Loramie, OH, and Elizabeth Cramer and husband, Rich, of Asheville, NC;
15 nieces and nephews: Paten, Preston, and Maggie Junkin, Evan, Ella, and Corynn Hoelscher, Callen and Livia Cramer, Kelsey and J.T. Summerford, Karson, Jackson, and Victoria Cameron, Emily and Evan Jacklin, Abby and Landon Wilson;
other relatives, and many friends.
Memorial Service will be 3:00p.m. Sunday April 8th , 2018 at Gordo First United Methodist Church with Rev. David Blakney Officiating with Skelton Funeral Home directing.
Funeral Mass was celebrated on Wednesday March 28, 2018 at 10:00a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Villa Ridge, MO with Rev. Timothy Foy officiating. Interment will be private.
Memorials donations in honor of Scott may be made to Siteman Cancer Center in St. Louis, MO. The family wishes to express most sincere gratitude to the many care providers who touched our lives at Barnes Jewish Hospital, the Siteman Cancer Center, Drs.
