Obituary

Shelby B. Johnston, age 85, died at home in Aliceville, AL on September 17, 2022. Graveside services will be 3:00 pm Tuesday, September 20, 2022 at Oak Grove-Franconia Cemetery with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will follow the service at the graveside.
She was preceded in death by her son, Rick Latham; her parents; brother, Burnice Bridges; sister, Frances Hollingsworth Stephens and sister-in-law, Gloria "Nan" Bridges.
Shelby is survived by her husband, retired District Attorney, Pep Johnston, her son, Mike Latham; daughter-in-law, Virginia Latham; brother, James Bridges; sister-in-law, Dot Bridges; grandchildren, Jennifer Latham Morgan, Ricky Latham, Allison Latham and Jessi Latham; great-granddaughter, Caleah Latham; nieces and nephews, Patricia Hester Stewart, Dennis Hollingsworth (Cindy), Dixie Smith (Cleveland), Jimmy Bridges (Jackie), Tim Bridges (Karla), Tracy Bridges (Lisa) and Laura Bridges Smith and several great and great-great nieces and nephews.                                              Shelby's family is especially grateful for the services of Hospice of West Alabama, caregivers: Roberta Colvin, Jeannie McCaa and LaShundra Pope during her long illness.
Shelby was born March 4, 1937 in the Benevola community of Pickens County, Alabama to the late Samuel Dock Bridges and Minnie Wilson Bridges. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Aliceville, a former employee of Huyck Felt Company and First Federal Savings and Loan and retired employee of West Alabama Bank & Trust.
