Shirley Faye Maxey Garner, age 67, of Columbus, MS died September 27, 2026 at her residence. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Thursday, October 1, 2026 at Skelton Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Pate Cemetery in Buhl, AL with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will be one hour prior and immediately following the service at the funeral home.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Dorothy Maxey and brothers, Larry Maxey and Robert “Onion” Maxey.

Survivors include her sons, Daniel Garner (Jeaney) and Matthew Garner (Whittney); five sisters, Susan Moore (James), Cathy Clarke (Donnie), Margaret Corlew (Robert), Hattie Watts (Bobby) and Debra Driver (Wayne Sellers); six grandchildren, Jonathan Garner, Brittany Garner, Mikayla Garner, Kristianne Garner, Jacob Garner and Emily Garner and a number of nieces and nephews.

Shirley was born May 19, 1959 in Crawford, Mississippi to the late Robert Cole Maxey and Dorothy Dean Boothe Maxey. She attended Zion Primitive Baptist Church and was a retired retail sales clerk. Shirley was a loving Mother and “Father” to her children.

Pallbearers will be Jonathan Garner, Sammy Hudson, Jr., James Hudson, Christian Hudson, Robert Hudson and Ronnie Driver.
