Obituary

REFORM – Shirley Rae Orr, age 79, of Reform, Ala., died May 28, 2016, at Pickens County Medical Center. Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 31, 2016, at Skelton Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Tony Latham officiating. Burial will follow in Graham Memorial Cemetery with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will be one hour prior and immediately following the service.She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Faye Russell; brother, Warren Jordan; and grandchildren, Madison and Morgan Orr.Survivors include her husband, Leon Orr of Reform, Ala.; sons, Tommy Orr and wife, Jackie, of Reform, Ala. and Michael Orr and wife, Nicole, of Reform, Ala.; sisters, Polly Walters (Dick) and Betty Carr (Donald); brothers, Bud Jordan (Allene) and Bill Jordan (Joan); and grandchildren, Alex Orr, Aaron Orr and Mason Orr.Shirley was born January 28, 1937 in Vernon, Alabama to the late Murry and Maudie Jordan. She was born the 5th of 7 children. Shirley started to school and graduated in Vernon, Ala. at Vernon High School. She remained a faithful Vernon "Bulldog'' fan even though she left Vernon in 1963 and moved to Pickens County. She married the love of her life on November 9, 1963 and they made their home in Reform, Ala. Shirley and Leon were married 52 years. They built a home right next to his parents before they married and that remained their home all these years. She started to work at Reform Elementary in the lunchroom when Michael started to school and there she served many kids their daily lunches for 19 years. She retired when she was diagnosed with her first battle of cancer in 1995. Shirley beat cancer then and was cancer free until January 2015 when she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. She immediately began treatments and fought it for 16 months. Today she is celebrating her arrival in Heaven and rejoicing with Morgan and Madison. Shirley will be greatly missed by her family and friends.Pallbearers will be Kenny Jordan, Jeff Jordan, Greg Russell, Terry Russell, Danny Black, Bruce Shaw and Tony Carr.Honorary pallbearers are members of Reform First Free Will Baptist Church, Amedisys Home Health and Hospice, Pickens County Medical Center, The Lewis and Faye Manderson Cancer Treatment Center, Dr. Gentry, Dr. Brandon, Barbara Bibee, Beverly Walters, Heather Pugh, Tina Blackwood, Dean Conn and a host of special family and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to Reform First Free Will Baptist Church, P. O. Box 495, Reform, AL 35481.
