Obituary

REFORM | Sybil Simpson Perry, age 89, of Reform, died November 2, 2014, at Arbor Woods Nursing Home. Services were held 1 p.m. Wednesday, November 5, 2014, at Stansel Baptist Church with Rev. Joey Lucas officiating. Burial followed in Bethel Cemetery with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. The family received friends after the service at the church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene G. Perry; daughter, Gail P. McKenney; her parents; and four brothers, S. D. "Roger", Wayne, Harold and Jerry "Bo" Simpson.
Survivors include her daughter, Colleen Robison (Cecil); sisters, Ruth Fullerton (Bill) and Gypsy Helmers (Henry); grandchildren, Steve McKenney (Susan), Kris McKenney, Paula Nickel (James) and Sheena Gwin (Ryan); great-grandchildren, Kellen, Connor, Preston, Levi, Dakota and Riley; sister-in-law, Shirley Simpson; son-in-law, Charles McKenney; numerous nieces and nephews; and special caretakers and friends, Mattie and Gene Sherrod.
Sybil was born July 2, 1925 in the Stansel community near Reform, Alabama to the late Doug and Wilma Yarborough Simpson. She met her husband, Gene while working at an airplane factory during WWII and they were married for 51 years until his death in 1996. After Gene's retirement from the Army, they had homes in Panacea, Fla. and Franklin, N.C. In later years, they moved back to her home place in the Stansel community. Sybil was a member of Stansel Baptist Church and a longtime volunteer with Pickens County Medical Center Auxiliary.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Southern Care Hospice, 3835 Watermelon Rd., Ste 3 & 4, Northport, AL 35476.
